I believe the best way to protect the environment and create jobs in District 39 is to think green – we need to develop in ways that reduce our emissions and resource consumption while simultaneously improving the quality of life in our district. We can do this by focusing on creating compact communities with greener buildings while retrofitting existing buildings that are inefficient. We can continue to work to expand our public transit system while providing more transportation choices to reduce vehicle emissions and decrease congestion. Finally, we need to modernize our energy grid and introduce legislation that would increase the percentage of electricity that we derive from renewable resources.
